1) Be able- There is a lot of curve balls and new assignments that can be thrown at you at any time. You have to be able to take it and run with it.
2) Be professional- Dress professionally, not casually. Make sure you look presentable from head to toe. It does matter.
3) Hold your tongue- Teenagers have a tendency to “express their feelings” in an unlikely manner sometimes to adults. We think we know it all, but we don’t. Especially working in a corporate business with people that have degrees in what they do, just let them do them and watch what you say.
4) Communicate with your colleagues- There’s a problem with just staying to yourself at the job. You want to be comfortable and not an outcast, so communicate with people around the office. Some are actually cool.
5) Ask for more- When you’re done with your assigned tasks, always ask for more work, this shows initiative and your boss would love it. Plus that’s how you move up in more positions.
6) Be prepared to be bored- When nothing is going wrong with the technology, you have no work. So make sure you have back up plans to fill in your time.
7) Grow- Make sure that you have gained more knowledge about what you do when you leave your job than when you first started. You will definitely use it in the future.
8) Manage your money wisely- The guaranteed money every two weeks is awesome. Just make sure you put aside money for savings and priorities first before the blow the rest of it.
9) Contribute something different to your team- They appreciate someone that will show them a thing or two. They want to be still young and you’re the perfect candidate to keep them up to date on what’s going on with us young adults, it can help them with their kids. They love that!
10) Appreciate the opportunity- Not a lot of people are granted the opportunity as being 18 and working in a fortune 500 corporation. Be appreciative that you are, and take full advantage of it!
